Almaty is located in the south-east of Kazakhstan, at the foot of the Zailiyskiy Alatau, which is part of the Tien Shan mountain system. This location makes the city particularly picturesque - it is easy to see the majestic mountain peaks right from the streets of the city. Thanks to the mountains, Almaty has a mild, relatively warm climate in winter and hot summers, but humidity is mostly low.

Almaty History
The city has a long and rich history: in the VII century there was Almatu settlement, which later developed and grew over the centuries. In the XIX century the territory became part of the Russian Empire, and “Verny” town was founded, which later became known as “Alma-Ata”. The name ‘Alma-Ata’ translates as ‘Father of Apples’, and it is believed that this is where the Aport apple variety, known for its large size and sweet flavor, originated.

Economy
Almaty is the financial capital of Kazakhstan and the city is home to a large number of banks, companies, offices of international organizations and businesses. It is also the main center of trade and business in the country, making Almaty an important economic engine for Kazakhstan.

Programme schedule of one-day Almaty city tour
09:00. Guests meet the guide at the hotel car park.
09:10. We leave in the direction of Medeu ice rink.
09:55. Using the cable car, tourists ascend with the guide to the Chimbulak ski resort. The guide shares with the guests stories about the Small Almaty Gorge, facts from the biography of Medeu, a local resident, the terrible consequences of mudflows and the construction of a protective anti mudflow dam.
10:20. Having walked on the resort site the guests ascend to Talgar Pass (3.2 kilometers above sea level) on two ropeways.
11:00. A short trekking-walk.
12:00. Return to Medeo car park.
13:00. Tourists leave for Almaty city center.
13:40. Lunch in the city center (not included in the tour price).
14:30. Guests continue the city-tour, the guide leaves the car near ‘Zhibek Zholy’ metro station, the guide and tourists go down to the metro, pass one station. Walk along pedestrian streets Panfilov, Zhibek Zholy. The guide introduces tourists to the architecture of buildings of the city center and urban biographical events.
16:00. Tourists visit ‘Rakhat’ chocolate factory shop and Green Bazaar.
17:00. Walk to the Park named after 28 Heroes-Panfilovtsev, acquainted with the Ascension Cathedral. Tourists return to the parked car.
18:00. Departure to the hotel.
